Noel Fitzpatrick: I think West Ham have that bit more guile than the home side, especially in Felipe Anderson, I fancy an away win 1-2.

Steve Bland: I’d rather watch 45 mins of Meghan and Harry analysis than watch another half of this. What a dire game.

  2. CLOSE!

    Sheff Utd 0-0 West Ham

John Fleck’s shot smacks into Pablo Zabaleta body and the loose ball falls invitingly to Fleck again but he sweeps his follow up just wide of the far post.

That’s probably the closest the Blades have come to the opener.

  3. Post update

    Sheff Utd 0-0 West Ham

One thing to keep an eye on in this half. David McGoldrick is two shots away from having the most shots without scoring in Premier League history.

He’s such a hard worker and has played an important role in helping the Blades to where they are this season, but he’ll be desperate to see the back of that net bulging.

  4. KICK-OFF

    Sheff Utd 0-0 West Ham

Just one goalless draw for West Ham in their last 52 games, surely we will see goals in this half?

    We’re back under way.

What more are West Ham fans expecting?

  6. ‘West Ham better side’

HT: Sheffield United 0-0 West Ham

Sheffield United v West Ham United - build-up and team news 2

    Lee Hendrie

Former Aston Villa midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

David Moyes has got his formation right and will be over the moon with the first-half display. He must’ve been expecting goals in this fixture but he’s certainly sussed them out and done his homework. He’s stopped the wide areas where Sheffield United are key and been expansive this season and to be honest, they’ve probably been the better side. They have gone about their business, worked hard and that’s certainly what you expect from David Moyes and that’s what he brings to the football club.

  7. Fernandes to Man Utd?

So little happened in that first half that Simon Stone even managed to take time out from the game to provide an update on Bruno Fernandes’ potential move to Manchester United.

  8. Post update

    Sheff Utd 0-0 West Ham

Three of the nine Premier League games this season to see no shots on target during the opening 45 minutes have involved Sheffield United (against West Ham (tonight), Aston Villa (December) and Man City (December)).

  9. ‘Moyes will be happy’

HT: Sheffield United 0-0 West Ham

    Rob Green

Former West Ham and England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Tactically, pretty spot on by David Moyes. West Ham have matched-up Sheffield United, denied them opportunities and effort-wise, it’s been there from the players. So, David Moyes will be walking in the dressing room very happy.

  10. HALF-TIME

    Sheff Utd 0-0 West Ham

I won’t lie, that wasn’t a thrilling half of football.

  12. Post update

    Sheff Utd 0-0 West Ham

Sebastien Haller holds the ball up well as he waits for reinforcements before Arthur Masuaku wins a second corner of the game for the Hammers. Manuel Lanzini sends the ball into the box but it is an easy catch for Dean Henderson.

  13. Post update

    Sheff Utd 0-0 West Ham

Aaron Cresswell knocks the ball into the box looking for Sebastien Haller but Dean Henderson is alert to the danger and gets off his line quickly to gather ahead of the West Ham striker.

    Rob Green

Former West Ham and England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Good play by Sheffield United. They got a bit of space on the left wing and clever turn by Lundstram butiIt was just a little bit too far for everyone in the box. and McBurnie made it look a bit better than it actually was so I don’t think any of the West Ham defence were troubled by that chance.

  16. Post update

    Sheff Utd 0-0 West Ham

Oli McBurnie just fails to meet John Lundstram’s ball towards the far post. That’s an opportunity that sums up the first half – a few promising chances just not quite coming off.

Sheffield United v West Ham United - build-up and team news 5

    Rob Green

Former West Ham and England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

The final ball by West Ham is looking for Sebastien Haller but with three centre halves around him and being the only one in the box, it needs an eye of the needle pass. It’s so hard around there.

  18. Post update

    Sheff Utd 0-0 West Ham

Sheffield United win their fourth corner of the game but again they fail to make it count as John Lundstram heads wide.

It feels like a set piece is going to be the best chance for a goal with both sides doing well to limit chances from open play.

    Sheffield United 0-0 West Ham

Sheffield United v West Ham United - build-up and team news 6

    Rob Green

Former West Ham and England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

A couple of times now Pablo Zabaleta has shown his experience, being in and around the game, reading the passes and just being where the ball is going to go next. He’s also arriving at the right time to pick the ball up and clear the danger.

  20. Post update

    Sheff Utd 0-0 West Ham

West Ham break after a Sheffield United attack is snuffed out but the home side swarm back quickly to cut off the passing lanes. Hugely impressive organisation from the Blades.
